One our our lovely members Amy is hosting her very own market this October, The Horseshoe Craft & Flea Market and is offering a great booth discount for DHA members. The Horseshoe Craft & Flea Market is a place where emerging, undiscovered and experienced artists, designers, crafters, and vintage collectors can set up their own little shop, showcase their talents and meet their customers. It’s a rare and wonderful shopping destination where customers can interact with and buy directly from their source. You’re sure to stumble upon some pretty awesome, lucky finds!

Applications are out for the 2010 Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair in Washington D.C. for Saturday October 2nd. The deadline to apply is July 4, 2010. Complete applications will be reviewed by the Crafty jury in July and all applicants will be notified of their status by Monday, July 26th. Join the Denver Handmade Alliance Friday June 18th from 7pm-9pm for an awesome night of craftiness in celebration of Etsy’s birthday from 7pm-9pm at The Other Side Arts located at 1644 Platte Street.

Bring a crafty project to work on or work on some crafty project ideas courtesy of Etsy and Ready Made Magazine. There will be some food and drink provided but we encourage you all to show off your crafty culinary skills and bring some homemade treats potluck style.

There is an upcoming market opportunity quickly approaching. Pink Pitcher has held the Denver Handmade Market for the past few years and it’s back. This year Pink will be Partnering with Colorado Fresh Farmer’s Market. Pink will be hosting the fair the first Sunday of the month from June through September, on the Esplanade at City Park. This fair brings together fabulous locally grown food with amazing locally made goods. What is SWAP?

A place to trade out unwanted materials; A place to discover your next art project; A place to meet other creative people.

Why SWAP?

Too much clutter in your work studio, Bad shopping mistakes; Change,  Sharing both ideas and supplies, Recycle, Find new exciting materials.

What to expect at SWAP?

The idea is to trade out materials that are crowding you, Items you know you will never use , Replaced with fresh materials, Come out with (go home with) your next big idea.

What can you SWAP?

Anything!!!!  If you think someone could use it SWAP it. The same goes for taking - don’t be greedy only take what you can use. Remember you are trying to reclaim your creative space – don’t clutter it back up.

So make sure to bring unwanted crafty materials to SWAP at the Crafty Ballyhoo! this Saturday April 17th at 1490 Delgany from 11am-7pm

Photography is Your Friend!

This hour and a half workshop will explore how crafters and designers use photography and how to achieve a more professional look to your photos with the camera you already have.

Erin Algiere is currently attending the Art Institute of Colorado for Photography in preparation for grad school. Erin has spent the past decade working for small businesses, promoting DIY endeavors and investigating the difference between communicating visually and via the written word. The thing she likes most about photography is how deceptively simple it is.

Her DIY clients include AIC Photo Club, Eye Spy Eyeware, Epidemick Clothing and Design, becky’s buttons, Vinluan Creative and MCA Denver.

When: Wednesday February 10th 7PM

Where: The Other Side Arts (TOSA) 1644 Platte Street

Who: This workshop caps at 20 attendees

Cost: $10 donation (this money goes towards space rental and printed materials, our instructors generously donate their time).

How to Register: DHA workshops are open to everyone but fill up on a first come first serve basis, to register please visit Tomte Craft and drop off your workshop donation to ensure a space in the class. Tomte Craft is located at 1644 Platte Street and is open Tuesday – Saturday 11AM-6PM and Sundays 12PM-5PM. If you are located outside of Denver or cannot make the hours listed above please email Becky Wareing at becky@denverhandmade.org
