On Thursday December 1 from 6-9 p.m. West Elm will be hosting a Handmade Holiday Workshop and Mini Market with Etsy at all of their locations. The DHA is proud to partner with Etsy and West Elm with this project at the Cherry Creek store located at 2955 E. 1st Ave, Denver. At these events you can enjoy drinks and snacks while you shop from local Etsy sellers and make ornaments with Etsy and the DHA to help decorate a tree that will be donated to a local non-profit. Denver Handmade Homemade Holiday Market

On Saturday, December 10^th, from 3pm to 8pm at Green Spaces (1368 26^th Street) the Denver Handmade Homemade Market will be hosting their annual Holiday Market, with over 35 local vendor booths. The Handmade Homemade Holiday Market will be a special one-day celebration of truly local food, art and crafts grown and produced in Denver homes and backyards. The Capital Hill area is now home to the Denver Designers Market, a fashion market for emerging designers to show their designs and goods. Kinga’s Lounge is now home to Denver Colorado’s first Designers Market. The Denver Designers Market goal is to give local emerging designers the chance to break onto the Denver fashion scene and showcase and sell their designs to the public. The last post I did was for my best friend’s bachelorette party. FACT. Well guess what, now she’s married! (Yes, it’s been that long since I last posted. Sorry, mom and possible other fan). Considering I used her bachelorette party as a reason to do a Crafty Hour, it should come as no surprise that I used her wedding as a reason to do a Crafty Hour. I am a very non-selfish person. It should also come as no surprise that my mom helped me. And by helped me, I mean she basically did it. Surprise! Not a surprise! That Was One Hell of an Acid Etch, Mom. [caption id="attachment_2291" align="aligncenter" width="145" caption="We etched champagne flutes. But I didn’t’ take a picture so here are Lindsay and Cliff opening the flutes hooray excitement!"][/caption] What You Need to Etch Champagne Flutes: Nice Champagne Flutes Glass Etching Kit Water Paper Paper towels Paint Brush Mom Who Can Tell You What To Do What You Need For Always A Bridesmaid: Mount Gay Silver Rum Lime Juice Simple Syrup Sparkling Wine TEARS Disclaimers: 1.) Glass etching is really easy, and there are a lot of different glass etching kits out there. Out there = craft stores. You can use it for all sorts of fun projects/gifts. Maybe you want to make something for your mom, or your significant other barf, or DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT. 2.) Technically, the drink is called The Mount Gay Flyer. Which...I mean, wow. So I just threw in the special ingredient of Bridesmaid Tears and made it the Always A Bridesmaid. Seemed a little more appropriate and less of a terrible name. 3.) In true Mrs. Myers fashion, some of our techniques are a little…unconventional. I.e, many blogs reccommend using rubber gloves. To which Mrs. Myers says, “Stop being a baby.” For those of you who might actually do these crafts (hahahaha JOKES) feel free to use the correct your own technique. 4.) The ingredients and steps referenced in Part II in no way relate to, or have validity with, Lindsay, her wedding, and/or my overall mental state. I promise. Get The Acid Ready Because We’re About To Take A Trip Down ‘I Don’t Understand My Emotions’ Lane. 1.) Do something with a piece of paper to make sure the etchings won’t infringe on lip space. [caption id="attachment_2292" align="aligncenter" width="189" caption="This makes total sense. "][/caption] 2.) Have a quick, but intense mental dilemma about what symbols and letters to use while your mother points them all out. [caption id="attachment_2293" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="I KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE THIS ISN'T HELPING I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO CHOOSE WHERE'S THE WINE. "][/caption] 3.) Dry your tears, cut out what element you decided on and place them on the glass. They usually have adhesive backs. [caption id="attachment_2294" align="aligncenter" width="208" caption="This looks ok, right? It’s on the right spot? She’ll like this? SOMEONE VALIDATE ME. "][/caption] 4.) Apply the acid onto the stencil. And be careful not to get any on you. [caption id="attachment_2295" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="Everything seems to be going well here. "][/caption] [caption id="attachment_2296" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="SWEET JESUS WHERE DID THAT COME FROM. "][/caption] 5.) If you do get acid on you, don’t panic. Just wash it off. [caption id="attachment_2297" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="GET IT OFF ME GET IT OFF ME"][/caption] 6.) Let the acid sit on the stencil for about a minute, and then wash it off. [caption id="attachment_2298" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="Can't mess this step up!"][/caption] 7.) Pat it dry. Gently, with a paper towel. [caption id="attachment_2299" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Oh no, why does my hand look like that. "][/caption] [caption id="attachment_2305" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"][/caption] 8.) If you’re going to put something on the other side, use that piece of paper again to line it up correctly. Or something? [caption id="attachment_2300" align="aligncenter" width="199" caption="I know it’s important because she’s pointing. "][/caption] 9.) Do steps 2-7 with whatever you’re putting on the other side. [caption id="attachment_2301" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="To be honest, I don't know what that thing is supposed to be. "][/caption] 10.) Marvel at the work you did and wrap it into a lovely box before you get a final picture of them oops! Part II: As If Acid With Your Mom Wasn’t Enough. AKA: Drinky Drink Time! What You Need For Always A Bridesmaid: 1 ½ oz Mount Gay Silver Rum 1 tbsp Lime Juice ½ tsp Simply Syrup Ice Sparking Wine (because only brides get champagne) 2 tbsp TEARS 1.) Combine the rum, lime juice and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake. 2.) Strain into a chilled white wine glass. 3.) Think about your friendship with the bride and wonder out loud if you’ll ever have what she has and why did she choose bright pink bridesmaid dresses when she knows you don’t look good in that color life is sooooo hard. 4.) Garnish with a lime and the tears from step 3. [caption id="attachment_2307" align="aligncenter" width="202" caption="mmmm gay tears. "][/caption] Well I have a rule that once the words "mmm gay tears" enters a blog, it’s time to wrap it up.
